With the Sanguem Assembly constituency set to be reserved, political activity has intensified in neighbouring Curchorem, with Sanguem MLA and Minister Subhash Phal Dessai indicating that he could contest the upcoming election from the constituency.

Phal Dessai said he had approached the party leadership regarding his political future, but claimed that no one was willing to discuss the issue with him.

Meanwhile, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral asserted that around 28,000 people stand behind him, signalling his confidence about retaining his political base in the constituency.

BJP leader Rohan Gauns Dessai also maintained that he has carried out development work in Curchorem and has a presence in the constituency.

BJP Goa Chief Damu Naik, meanwhile, said that leaders should focus on their respective constituencies.
