The High Court has issued notices to the Goa Government, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), and the Village Panchayat of Calangute in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the destruction of large tracts of beach vegetation and the cutting of trees on government land under the custody of the Tourism Department at Tavai Waddo, Calangute. The matter will be heard by the High Court on 16 September. • The body of 40-year-old fisherman Umesh Dabolkar, a resident of Nerul, has been recovered at Sinquerim Beach after he reportedly fell from a fishing boat and drowned. Rescue teams had launched a search operation to trace him. • A stray dog was run over and killed by a car in Cuncolim; CCTV footage shows the dog sitting visibly on the road as the vehicle approaches and runs over it. • Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the MGP remains part of the alliance and will respect its principles, but questioned whether Govind Gaude has the authority to comment on alliance matters. The supplier was found operating without a valid FSSAI licence, following which the entire stock was destroyed in the interest of public health. • The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of Goa Act, 2025 has come into force from August 6, 2026. The Law Ministry has directed the Census Commissioner to ascertain/estimate Goa’s Scheduled Tribe population as per the last census, paving the way for further action on ST political reservation in the Assembly. Minister Sudin Dhavalikar Backs Son Mithil For Madkai Ticket

MGP Says Alliance Matters Should Be Discussed Through Proper Forums

Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) remains part of the alliance and will abide by its principles, while questioning whether Minister Govind Gaude has the authority to make statements on alliance-related issues.

Dhavalikar said the BJP has its Core Committee and Executive Committee, which are the appropriate forums to discuss and decide matters concerning the alliance. He maintained that such issues should be addressed through the established leadership channels.

On the question of his son Mithil Dhavalikar contesting the upcoming Assembly election, Sudin said he would ensure that Mithil gets the election ticket from Madkai if he wishes to contest from the constituency.

“If he wishes to contest from another constituency, we will consider the matter at that time,” Dhavalikar said, leaving the option open for Mithil to contest elsewhere.
