Goa’s much-awaited Porvorim-Guirim Elevated Corridor on NH-66 is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 10, 2026, by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

PWD Minister Digambar Kamat recently met Gadkari in New Delhi and invited him to inaugurate the newly constructed elevated corridor. Gadkari accepted the invitation, paving the way for the formal opening of the project.

The 5.15-km, six-lane elevated corridor, constructed along the busy NH-66 stretch through Porvorim, is aimed at addressing the persistent traffic congestion faced by commuters travelling between Panaji and North Goa.

Built at an estimated cost of ₹641 crore, the corridor is being seen as a major addition to Goa’s road infrastructure. Once opened to traffic, it is expected to improve traffic flow through Porvorim and reduce delays along one of the state’s busiest road stretches.

The project has been under construction for several years, with motorists facing traffic diversions and disruptions during the construction period. Commuters are now expecting the opening of the corridor to provide significant relief from daily congestion.

The project also includes beautification and public-space initiatives. Landscaping is planned around more than 80 pillars, while areas beneath the elevated structure are proposed to be converted into recreational and other usable public spaces.
