The 2nd Additional Civil Judge, Senior Division and JMFC has directed the parties to maintain status quo in a dispute involving the Sociedade Agricola Dos Goancares de Cuncolim e Veroda, which has around 1,700 members.

The matter was brought before the court by Aviraj B. Dessai, who challenged the introduction of 84 new bylaws by the Sociedade.

According to the case, the new bylaws were introduced without adequately consulting or taking the members into confidence. A section of the members had also raised objections to conducting the Sociedade’s elections under the newly introduced rules.

Following the dispute, Dessai approached the court seeking legal intervention in the matter.

In the latest development, the 2nd Additional Civil Judge, Senior Division and JMFC directed all parties to maintain status quo, providing an interim direction while the matter proceeds before the court.

The dispute concerns the validity and implementation of the new bylaws and their proposed use for conducting the Sociedade’s elections.
