Around 5,800 Matka cases have resulted in acquittals, with courts holding that the police arrested only the Matka bookie and, in none of these cases, arrested a bettor.
In all 5,800 cases, the courts acquitted the accused, observing that in the absence of a bettor, the offence of Matka could not be proved.
