School heads have been asked to ensure immediate compliance. • Mapusa JMFC Court has extended the police custody of Tarak Arolkar by two days. He was arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with an alleged Rs 40 lakh property fraud case. • Canacona Police have registered a case against one person from Canacona, for allegedly stabbing the complainant in the chest and assaulted his wife on the wrist with a knife at Palolem on August 25. The accused allegedly also abused and threatened the couple and their son. • When questioned about the opposition to the Anti-Conversion Bill, CM Sawant said 'Let the Bill be introduced in the Assembly first. The Cabinet has approved it. Let us discuss it in the Assembly'. Sanvordem MLA and Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar has hit out at allegations of illegal laterite stone quarrying on the premises of the Dharbandora Multi-Faculty College, warning against attempts to tarnish his name.

Gaonkar maintained that no illegal activity is taking place within the college premises and challenged those making the allegations to come forward through legal channels if they have evidence.

He said such matters should not be settled outside the legal process and warned that attempts to malign his name would not be tolerated.

The MLA’s remarks come amid allegations that illegal laterite stone quarrying is being carried out within the college premises.

Gaonkar urged those making the allegations to produce evidence before the appropriate authorities and allow the matter to be dealt with through due legal procedure.
