A tense situation prevailed at Headland-Sada after authorities arrived to demolish the ‘Murgao Cha Raja’ Ganesh pandal shed in compliance with a High Court order.

The demolition was later adjourned amid fears of a law-and-order situation after some people allegedly threatened to self-immolate in protest against the proposed action.

The High Court had directed the authorities to execute the demolition order, with the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer instructed to remain present at the site during the proceedings.

However, the MMC Chief Officer was reportedly absent from the site as he had been hospitalised.
The developments led to heightened tension at Headland-Sada, with authorities assessing the situation before proceeding with the demolition.
