Has Goa become a lawless state? Slamming the Ponda police for delaying the registration of an FIR in a case involving alleged trespassing by a mob into the Shree Saibaba Temple at Borim and the theft of property, the High Court observed that it appeared there was no rule of law and that Goa had become a lawless state. The High Court also referred to another instance of alleged lawlessness, in which a group of people reportedly installed a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj illegally on the property of the Mormugao Port Authority, while the local police remained inactive.
