The Goa Cabinet has approved the regularisation of teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha scheme who have completed 10 years of service, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the Assembly on Monday.
Sawant said the government has taken a cabinet decision to provide regular service status to eligible Samagra Shiksha teachers who have completed the required 10-year service period.
According to the Chief Minister, appointment letters are expected to be issued in October, following completion of the necessary formalities.
The issue was raised in the Assembly by GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai, who questioned the continued appointment of teachers on a contractual basis despite the work being of a permanent nature.
Sardesai also raised concerns over the lack of job security in Goa, pointing out that while young people from the state are forced to seek employment abroad, qualified workers already serving the government continue to face contractual employment.
