Goa will participate in the BJP’s nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

The campaign will begin on September 17, coinciding with Modi’s birthday. Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, marking the beginning of his tenure in constitutional public office, and will complete 25 years in public service in October 2026.

As part of the celebrations, Goa will organise ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ on September 17. Families who have benefited from various Central Government welfare schemes, including housing schemes, will be encouraged to light a diya at their homes at 7 pm as a gesture of gratitude and blessings for the Prime Minister.

PWD Minister and BJP leader Digambar Kamat has been appointed as the Goa in-charge for the programme.

Meanwhile, the state government has cleared a proposal for sponsorship towards the 4th World Ocean Science Congress, with POSCO providing sponsorship for the event.

The government has also approved the allocation of 4,401 square metres of land to the Department of Archaeology for departmental use.

The decisions were announced by Chief Minister Sawant as the government prepares for the upcoming campaign and continues to take administrative measures across various departments.
