Goa is set to host the 37th West Zone Junior Athletics Championship from September 27 to 29, with around 800 young athletes expected to compete in the three-day event.

Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said athletes from eight states and Union Territories are expected to participate in the championship, making it a major platform for emerging athletics talent in the region.

Goa is expected to field around 150 athletes in the championship, giving local youngsters an opportunity to compete against some of the best junior athletes from across the West Zone.

The championship is expected to provide a valuable platform for young athletes to gain competitive experience and showcase their talent on home ground.

With hundreds of athletes converging in Goa, the event is set to be a significant boost to the state’s athletics scene and its efforts to encourage young sporting talent.
