Speaking on the Prudent Media's Podcast, retired Justice Ferdino Rebello raised serious concerns over the election process and anti-defection measures. Rebello stated that if the allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner are true, it amounts to a violation of the Constitution.

He further remarked that when constitutional principles are not protected, even the courts fail the public, noting that even the Supreme Court has let the nation down at times.

To curb defection effectively, Justice Rebello suggested that recognizing a split group of MLAs separately from their original political party must be stopped.
