The Awaken Goans organisation has raised serious concerns over the difficulties faced by contractual and lecture-basis teachers in the education sector, alleging a lack of coordination within the Education Department.

The organisation alleged that Diocesan schools are being given “stepmotherly treatment” by the government and questioned the handling of issues affecting teachers and educational institutions.
Awaken Goans has also demanded that the government make public data on the number of government schools that have been shut down and the number of new schools granted recognition.
The organisation said greater transparency is needed from the government on decisions affecting Goa’s education sector.
