Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced major investments in road infrastructure projects in Goa, with a combined allocation of ₹6,200 crore for three key projects.

Gadkari announced that ₹2,000 crore has been sanctioned for the four-laning of the 13-km Anmod–Mollem stretch of National Highway 748. The process of land acquisition and obtaining forest clearances for the project has already commenced.

Another ₹2,200 crore has been sanctioned for the four-laning of the 21-km Mollem–Khandepar stretch of the highway. The project is expected to improve connectivity between South Goa and neighbouring Karnataka while easing traffic movement through the existing corridor.

The Centre has also approved ₹2,000 crore for the construction of the Bori bridge, which is expected to strengthen road connectivity and provide an important link for traffic movement in the region.

Meanwhile, Gadkari expressed strong displeasure over the delay in the Mumbai–Goa National Highway project. He said the work had taken considerably longer than expected and expressed disappointment over the pace of execution.

Gadkari said he would not attend the inauguration of the Mumbai–Goa highway due to the prolonged delay in completing the project.

He also stated that the Centre was prepared to consider Goa’s demands concerning national highway projects and assured that the state’s requirements would be addressed.
