The demand for granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Dhangar community and providing a ‘quota within quota’ reservation to the Bhandari community under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category was raised in the Goa Legislative Assembly during Zero Hour.
Raising the issue, MLA Viresh Borkar said the Dhangar community had faced injustice and urged the Government to take steps to grant it ST status.
Borkar also demanded a separate ‘quota within quota’ reservation for the Bhandari community within the OBC category, seeking measures to ensure adequate representation for the community.
Responding to the demand concerning the Dhangar community, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House that the process related to its reservation proposal was already underway.
