Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar will visit Goa on September 2 and 3 as part of the Election Commission’s regional conference, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Goa Sanjay Goel, IAS, said.

During his two-day visit, Kumar will interact with more than 1,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and students from Electoral Literacy Clubs.

The CEC is scheduled to interact with BLOs on September 2, where he will hear their experiences and feedback from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

On September 3, Kumar will interact with students associated with Electoral Literacy Clubs as part of the Election Commission’s efforts to promote electoral awareness among young citizens.

Officials said the visit will primarily focus on electoral awareness, field-level experiences and preparedness. There is currently no meeting scheduled with political parties during the CEC’s visit.

A separate full Commission meeting focusing specifically on election preparedness is likely to be held in Goa in October or November, officials indicated.

The two-day visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the Election Commission to directly engage with election officials and students and assess ground-level experiences related to electoral processes.
