Ration cardholders at the Savoiverem Primary VKSS are facing severe inconvenience after receiving a supply of poor-quality wheat from the Civil Supplies Department. Locals have strongly objected to the condition of the grain, stating that the stock supplied this month is severely degraded and unfit for human consumption.

Residents said minor quality issues had been noticed in earlier consignments, but the condition of the current stock is significantly worse, triggering anger among families dependent on government ration supplies.

The reported distribution of damaged wheat and rice has raised concerns among vulnerable households that rely heavily on their monthly ration quotas for their daily food requirements. Several families depend on allocations from multiple ration cards to meet their basic needs, making the availability of usable grain particularly important.

With complaints of unconsumable wheat and rice reaching local societies, beneficiaries have called for immediate intervention by the authorities and replacement of the damaged stock.

Following the issue being highlighted by Prudent Media, the Ponda Civil Supplies Department has directed all Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers not to sell or distribute any wet, spoiled or otherwise unfit wheat or rice to beneficiaries.

The department has instructed dealers to immediately report and segregate damaged stock and ensure that it is replaced, so that beneficiaries receive their full entitled ration quota in usable condition.
