The Council for Social Justice and Peace and the Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) submitted a memorandum to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, raising concerns over the proposed FCRA Amendment Bill, 2026 and its potential impact on minority-run institutions and services catering to the poor and vulnerable.
The organisations urged Kharge to oppose the proposed amendments, stating that changes to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act could have implications for institutions involved in social welfare, education, healthcare and other services for disadvantaged sections of society.
During the meeting, the Catholic Association of Goa also urged the Congress leadership to field young and clean candidates in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, stressing the need for a new generation of leaders with a credible public image.
