The controversy surrounding the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee's (GPCC) decision to expel Shamila Siddiqui and Manisha Usgaonkar has intensified, with senior Congress leader Amit Patkar criticising the move and Manisha Usgaonkar announcing that she will pursue legal action.
The GPCC recently expelled Siddiqui and Usgaonkar from the party for six years, citing allegations of anti-party activities and indiscipline.
Reacting to the disciplinary action, Amit Patkar questioned the basis for the expulsions and said the decision was unjustified.
"How can criticising the BJP be a reason for expelling someone from the party? The decision to remove them from the party is wrong," Patkar said.
Meanwhile, Manisha Usgaonkar said she would challenge the action legally and seek an explanation from the party.
"I will take legal action and ask the party on what basis I was suspended. They have defamed me through this action, and I will seek the committee's report detailing the alleged anti-party activities for which I was expelled," she said.
Usgaonkar further stated that she would also seek an explanation from the Congress high command whenever she gets an opportunity to meet its leaders.
