Days after the Goa Crime Branch busted an extensive interstate drug syndicate allegedly being operated from inside Colvale Central Jail using smuggled mobile phones, WhatsApp and UPI transactions, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has ordered sweeping security measures at the prison.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said authorities have been directed to strengthen surveillance and ensure that every vehicle entering the jail premises undergoes mandatory inspection.
Sawant also instructed the Jail In-Charge to conduct a comprehensive security audit to identify and plug any loopholes in the existing system.
He said the government is committed to preventing any recurrence of such security breaches and assured that stricter monitoring and enforcement mechanisms would be put in place at the state's largest prison.
