Karnataka is planning to divert excess water from the Tillari River to Belagavi to meet drinking water needs. State officials are set to meet with the Deputy Commissioner next week to discuss routing the water through the Rakaskop reservoir.

The proposal has strong political support, including backing from Karnataka’s District In-Charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi, former Belagavi Mayor Shivaji Sunthkar, and other former corporators. Sources report that Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has also discussed the project with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
