The Goa government provides financial assistance towards the salaries of employees working with eligible startups under the Goa Startup Policy, but the department does not have consolidated data on the number of jobs generated through the scheme.

Under the policy implemented by the Information Technology Department, employees of eligible new startups can receive government support equivalent to 50% of their salary, subject to a ceiling of ₹15,000 per month.

However, when questioned about the number of people who have secured employment through startups benefiting from the policy, the department reportedly did not have the required data.

The issue was raised by MLA Carlos Ferreira, who sought details on the employment generated through the government’s startup initiative.

The absence of job-creation figures has raised questions about the government’s ability to assess the employment impact of the salary-support component of the startup policy.

While the scheme provides financial assistance to startups towards employee salaries, details on the number of beneficiaries employed under the programme have not been compiled or made available by the department.
