Goa has exported 16.20 lakh kg of vegetables to Belagavi over the past four-and-a-half years, generating revenue of ₹28.85 lakh, according to information from the Goa State Horticulture Corporation.

The data indicates growing demand for vegetables produced by local farmers, with 42 per cent of the total vegetables sent to Belagavi comprising local cucumber (tavshe).

The Goa State Horticulture Development Corporation procures vegetables directly from local farmers. The produce is first distributed through the corporation’s outlets, private vendors and other channels to meet the demand within Goa.

After meeting local requirements, surplus vegetables are sent to the Belagavi Market Yard for sale. Depending on market demand and requirements, suppliers transport the produce to Belagavi, where it is sold through the market and to large private vendors.

The data for the period from 2022-23 to August 16, 2026-27 shows fluctuations in the quantity of vegetables sent to Belagavi, while demand for Goa’s produce has continued to increase.

In 2022-23, Goa sent 22,360 kg of vegetables to Belagavi, generating ₹1.83 lakh. The quantity increased to 3.65 lakh kg in 2023-24, generating ₹6.14 lakh.

In 2024-25, around 2.20 lakh kg of vegetables were sent to Belagavi, generating ₹8.16 lakh, while in 2025-26, the quantity increased substantially to 6.03 lakh kg, generating ₹7.69 lakh.

During 2026-27 up to August 16, Goa had already sent 4.08 lakh kg of vegetables to Belagavi, generating ₹5.01 lakh.

Over the four-and-a-half-year period, the major vegetables sent to Belagavi included 6.96 lakh kg of local cucumber, 3.72 lakh kg of bhendi, 3.44 lakh kg of chichki, 1.65 lakh kg of Goan dudhi, 19,524 kg of brinjal, 12,683 kg of green chillies and 7,269 kg of karaty.
