In a major relief to consumers ahead of the festive season, coconuts will be available at ₹38 per piece at Goa State Horticulture Corporation outlets from Wednesday.
GSHCL Managing Director Chandrahas K. Desai said the corporation will continue selling coconuts at the reduced price until Anant Chaturdashi.
The move comes as coconut prices in the open market have surged to around ₹60 per piece amid increased demand during the Chaturthi season.
The reduced price at Horticulture Corporation outlets is expected to provide some relief to consumers, particularly households preparing for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Desai said the initiative is aimed at making coconuts available to consumers at an affordable price during the festive period.
