After waiting for nearly two decades, around 70 farmers from Surla are set to receive long-pending compensation for losses caused by mining activities.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the farmers had been awaiting compensation from mining companies for the losses suffered to their agricultural land.
For the first time, compensation amounting to ₹2.90 crore has been sanctioned for around 70 farmers of Surla.
The compensation was approved following efforts by the previous government, Sawant said. The Chief Minister handed over the sanction order letters to the farmers, marking a significant step towards resolving their long-pending claims.
For the affected farmers, the release of the compensation brings an end to a wait spanning around 20 years, providing long-awaited financial relief for losses linked to mining activity.
