Known as Anjuna’s ‘Marigold King’, Gaspar Fernandes has been cultivating marigold flowers for the past five years, turning seasonal farming into a profitable festival-time venture.

This year, Fernandes harvested around 350 kg of marigold flowers for Ganesh Chaturthi and earned a substantial return from the sale of the flowers.

With Chaturthi bringing encouraging profits, Fernandes has now begun preparations for the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali festivals, when demand for flowers is expected to rise further.

Fernandes’ journey reflects how traditional flower cultivation can provide farmers with a valuable source of income during Goa’s festive season, while also meeting the growing local demand for fresh flowers.

From nurturing the crop in his fields to supplying flowers during major festivals, Fernandes has built a name for himself through his dedication to marigold cultivation over the past five years.
