Many people ask me, fervently, passionately, desperately,
"Doc, our last chance, no? After this we are doomed, right?"
To be honest, since the early 2000s, when Goa became everyone's cheap bitch, we were already doomed.
It’s just that the screwing is getting more painful now.
And that’s why the complaining seems louder.
So if anyone is selling you fairy tales, that Goa has to be saved in E-27 , that song has already been sung before.
And it's not even on the top 100 of the Billboared charts.
It’s just a song, played endlessly on a broken loop.
So come E-27, you will all go to the polling stations brows furrowed, a grim look on your faces, that familiar glint in your eyes as if you are all part of Napoleon Bonaparte’s army and vote the "saviour” you can curry the most favour with, who preferably belongs to your religion and caste, who swims in the same incestuous pond and who makes the right noises when required to.
Whereas the wolves from all over the country devour this land of mine (as in minerals), one large morsel at a time.
And those poor environmental activists will then be called back into service, and despite all their heroic, historic work, will be treated like idiots, for the next silly season of 5 years.
And then in 2032, for the next five-year cycle of madness, the roars to Save Goa, ( yet again) will thunder across the state.
How utterly romantic, no ?
So despite the BJP looking desperate, their own house in complete disarray, there is frankly no united challenge to their dominion whatsoever.
To even mention all the characters in this pornographic movie that is passing off as an opposition challenge is, frankly, an affront to the porn industry.
At least, in the porn industry, there is some honesty about the whole business.
Here, you simply do not know who is screwing whom in the opposition cabal.
The only few guys I can safely vouch for are Valmiki, Jack, Viresh, Swapnesh(if he contests).
But do they even count in the grand scheme of things?
Hopefully, we will at least get some sincere guys and gals in the Assembly.
And that’s the best case scenario for us.
Some who will genuinely take up causes.
And stick by them.
Not indulge in back-room back-stabbing, like most other superstars from the opposition are sure to do.
So I will leave you with just these few examples of my argument:
1) The BJP DESPERATION.
They have reverted back to their bullshit anti-conversion bill, targeting minorities. To tell their faithful :
We may have destroyed your lives,
But, by hell, we will destroy all those descendants of Arabia and Rome a million times over.
The ones who should kick this bill outright are the BJP loyalists.
Tell dear Pramod Sawant, the smiling assassin of Goa's future, to just focus on banning land conversions of Goa.
The Catholic priests and bishops are so busy celebrating and toasting the BJP Christao turncoats, do you think they have any time for religious conversions?
That surely is a laugh, no?
2) The DISJOINTED OPPOSITION.
Despite a disgraceful, disgraceful stint in office during the last five years, everyone in their right mind knows that the BJP with its war chest, compliant media, and strong-arm tactics, will most likely seize power yet again in ‘27.
So the high octane campaigns by the most visible Save Goemkarpon stalwarts is to retain their few seats and then strike bargains with the BJP. And Girish Chodankar can go hold the can of s…t!!
3) DOOMED GOA
Truly, when and only when, a cascading landslide comes down and destroys all our livelihoods and lives will we come to our senses.
And then maybe not.
Even if we are being swept away by floods, we will still cling to our stupid, banal, completely useless identity politics and believe we have been saved.
See you on the other side of 2027 folks. I am done with this charade.
Meanwhile, book the best seats in the house and hear Shakespeare’s Macbeth pondering:
“Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player.
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage.
And then is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot.
Full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”
Even the Bard from Stratford-upon-Avon (good old Willy) had predicted the state of Goa today so many centuries ago!
