Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Unit has arrested Goa residents Siddhesh Tari and Pritesh Salgaonkar in connection with an alleged extortion case involving The House of Abhinandan Lodha’s One Goa project at Karapur, Bicholim.

According to police, the duo allegedly demanded money from the company and threatened to disrupt the housing project. Around ₹41 lakh was allegedly taken from the company in connection with the case.

The arrests were carried out at Dodamarg in Maharashtra by Maharashtra Police.

Clarifying the Goa Police’s role in the matter, Bicholim Police Inspector Vijay Rane said the action has no direct connection with Goa Police as the FIR was not registered within Goa’s jurisdiction.

Rane said the accused were not arrested in Goa and were instead taken into custody by Maharashtra Police in Dodamarg. Therefore, there was no requirement for the Maharashtra authorities to separately inform the Bicholim or Goa Police about the arrests, he clarified.

He also said that the relatives of the arrested accused were informed about the arrests as required under law.
