Goa Cricket Association (GCA) President Mahesh Dessai said the association is ready to proceed with the development of a cricket stadium at either Dhargal or Maulingi, with the necessary permissions and requirements from the GCA side already in place.

Dessai said the GCA has the funds required for the project and is prepared to begin work once the government completes the necessary formalities.

“We are ready with all the necessary permissions at both places, Dhargal and Maulingi. We have taken care of all the requirements from the GCA side. We have the money and we are ready to build the stadium. Now the ball is in the government’s court,” Dessai said.

He said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has indicated that the government will complete the necessary work by December and that the foundation stone for the project will also be laid by December.

Dessai also said the GCA would be willing to take over and maintain the Fatorda Stadium if the government decides to hand it over to the association.

“Even if the government is ready to give us the Fatorda Stadium, we are ready to take it and maintain the stadium,” he said.
