Amid a nearly 32% rainfall deficit in Goa this year, the state government has reportedly approached the Centre seeking an early joint inspection by the PRAWAH Committee over concerns regarding the diversion of Mhadei water by Karnataka.
The Goa government has written to the Centre requesting that the PRAWAH Committee conduct a joint inspection at the earliest to ascertain the situation and address concerns over water availability in the state.
Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar said the request was not made simply because water levels have declined. He said Goa wants the PRAWAH Committee to examine the situation and understand Karnataka’s intentions regarding the diversion of Mhadei water.
