Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge appealed to the people of Goa to bring the Congress back to power and reject candidates who have switched parties.
Addressing a gathering in Goa, Kharge urged voters not to support “defecting MLAs” and called on the people to unite to protect the state’s land, water and forests.
“Bring Congress to power to protect Goa. Do not vote for defecting MLAs,” Kharge said.
Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, Kharge alleged that Goa was being “looted” and called upon the people to drive out those responsible.
He also highlighted the Congress’ role in India’s freedom struggle and questioned the BJP’s contribution to the movement.
“Modi’s is a government of thieves,” Kharge alleged, taking a direct swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government.
Kharge further warned that Goa’s land, water and forests could be at risk if people remained divided. He appealed to Goans to stay united to protect the state’s natural resources and interests.
