The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Federation has urged the Goa government to regularise nearly 2,700 labour supply employees working in the Public Works Department (PWD) across the state.
Addressing the media, INTUC Federation State President Adv. Ajay Prabhugaonkar said the long-pending issue must be resolved by passing a decision in the Goa Legislative Assembly. He said the workers have been serving the department for years and deserve job security and regular service benefits.
Prabhugaonkar stated that the government should not delay the matter any further and must take immediate steps to regularise the employees.
He also warned that if the demand is ignored, the federation will intensify its agitation and launch a stronger protest to press for the workers' regularisation.
The union has called on the state government to honour its commitment to the employees and ensure a permanent solution to the issue.
