Goa Governor has summoned a three-day session of the Goa Legislative Assembly from August 31 to September 2. The session is likely to be the last of the current Assembly's tenure.

Reacting to the announcement, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao criticised the short duration of the session, alleging that it reduces the legislature to a mere formality for clearing government business.
Calling the move a blow to democratic functioning, Alemao said, "This three-day ritual has reduced democracy to a mere formality to clear government business. Curtailing the duration is the curtailment of democracy. We condemn this utter disregard for the burning issues of the people of Goa."
