The Goa government has set a target of developing 65 MW of rooftop solar capacity in the state and has introduced a new scheme to encourage wider adoption of rooftop solar systems.

The Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Promotion Scheme came into effect from April 1, 2026, with financial assistance aimed at making rooftop solar installations more accessible to consumers.

Under the scheme, domestic consumers will receive a 50% subsidy, ranging from ₹20,000 for a 1-kW system to ₹2.20 lakh for installations up to 10 kW.

Group housing societies, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and educational institutions will also be eligible for a 50% subsidy for rooftop solar systems up to 90 kW.

Commercial and industrial establishments, meanwhile, will receive a 20% subsidy under the scheme.

The government has urged eligible consumers and institutions to take advantage of the financial incentives and adopt rooftop solar energy, with the scheme scheduled to remain in force until March 2028.
