Goa observed Gandhi Jayanti and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri with patriotic fervour, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighting their ideals and vision for the country.
Speaking at a programme organised to mark the occasion, Sawant said the government was taking forward the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by promoting Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of Swadeshi, Swabhasha, Swasanskriti and cleanliness.
He said the government was working towards realising the India envisioned by Gandhi and Shastri by drawing inspiration from their principles.
Sawant also highlighted the importance of farmers in nation-building, saying they are as important to the country as soldiers who protect its borders. He said the government was implementing various initiatives aimed at increasing farmers’ income and improving their quality of life, inspired by Shastri’s vision.
