Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira has expressed confidence that an alliance with Goa Forward Party (GFP) will take place, saying that if the BJP has to be defeated, all opposition forces will have to come together.

Ferreira said the alliance and its platform are already in place, adding that they are prepared to do whatever is necessary to create an alternative political front.
Meanwhile, Fatorda MLA and GFP president Vijai Sardesai said the required steps for the alliance would be announced at an auspicious time.
Sardesai said the current period is considered inauspicious as per the Hindu calendar and that this was why the process was being slowed down. He added that there was a strong public demand for a grand alliance against the BJP.
Sardesai further warned that any party rejecting the alliance would be committing “political suicide”, stressing that opposition parties need to come together to create an alternative.
