The Goa Football Association (GFA) has suspended 14 players over alleged match-fixing and has decided to bar them from entering GFA match venues.

GFA President Caitano Fernandes said the association will submit a report to the Crime Branch regarding the alleged match-fixing for further investigation and action.

Among those suspended is police constable Mohsin Sheikh, whom Fernandes identified as the main person allegedly involved in the matter.

In a separate issue concerning football infrastructure in the state, Fernandes said Fatorda's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa's only international football stadium, should remain dedicated to the sport.

He said the stadium should not be handed over to the Goa Cricket Association (GCA), arguing that the GCA has the resources to develop its own stadium.

Fernandes maintained that Fatorda should be preserved as a home for football in Goa, given its importance to the state's football ecosystem.
