“We are not in favour of any political party. Our concern is what Goa will be like over the next 20 years,” said Ferdino Rebello while speaking at an ‘Enough Is Enough’ programme organised in Margao.

Rebello said that people had fought for Goa and for Konkani as the official language, but questioned what the purpose of those struggles would be if Goans were eventually reduced to a minority in their own state.

He also expressed concern over the rapid changes taking place across Goa, including the destruction of hills and increasing movement between Goa and Mumbai.

“We need to preserve our land for the future generations,” Rebello said, stressing the need to protect Goa’s land, identity and interests for those who will inherit the state in the years to come.

The ‘Enough Is Enough’ programme in Margao brought together voices raising concerns over Goa’s future and the need for greater awareness about land and development issues.
