The Congress party has put allegations against the state government, terming the expenditure incurred during the 'Prerna Divas' celebrations as a massive financial scam. According to Congress leader Amarnath Panjikar, a total of Rs 4.5 crore was spent on the event, pointing to gross misuse and mismanagement of public funds.

Detailing the breakdown of the expenditure, the opposition highlighted several astonishing figures. A hefty Rs 33 lakh was reportedly spent on transportation arrangements for around 5,000 attendees, while Rs 22 lakh went into printing and branding alone. Infrastructure and technical setups also carried heavy price tags, including Rs 7.5 lakh for the sound system, Rs 5.5 lakh for generator rentals, and Rs 7.5 lakh set aside for garbage management.

The allegations outline that VIP catering was billed at Rs 500 per breakfast plate and Rs 1,200 per lunch plate. Additionally, individual saplings presented to guests costed Rs 800 each, a Lord Ganesha idol gifted to the Chief Minister was valued at Rs 15,000, and event anchors were allegedly paid Rs 50,000 per day. Congress leaders have strongly condemned these expenditures, demanding accountability and a thorough investigation into the matter.
