Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief Girish Chodankar has revealed that the first instalment of ₹1 crore was paid in 2017 for the purchase of seven offices for the Congress at Patto in Panaji. However, the remaining balance has not been paid after the price of the offices increased.
Speaking to the media, Chodankar said the Congress would take a decision on the matter at a later stage.
“The remaining balance has not been paid as the price has increased. We will take a call on that later,” Chodankar said.
Meanwhile, former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president John Fernandes has raised questions over approximately ₹25 lakh that was allegedly kept aside during his tenure.
Fernandes has sought clarity on the utilisation of the funds and demanded an inquiry to ascertain where the money went.
The issue has raised fresh questions over the long-pending purchase of the seven Congress offices at Patto and the funds involved in the proposed deal.
