The South Goa District and Sessions Court has granted conditional bail to 23-year-old Akash Kumar, a student from Bihar, who was arrested last month for allegedly assaulting the complainant female and her husband with a knife at their rented residence in Cansaulim.

According to the report submitted by Verna Police, the incident took place on the morning of July 4, 2026, at a rented room in Madalem, Cansaulim. It was alleged that the accused, Akash Kumar, a native of Vaishali, Bihar, and a degree student, had developed an obsessive, one-sided infatuation with the complainant female. On the morning of July 4, he allegedly entered the room armed with a knife, threatened to commit suicide, and attacked the complainant’s husband, causing neck injuries, while the complainant sustained wrist cuts during the struggle.

Adv. Amarnath Dessai, appearing for the accused, submitted that Akash Kumar is a full-time degree student in Bihar and has been in custody since July 4, 2026.

However, during the hearing, the complainant appeared as an intervenor and stated that the complaint had arisen out of a mutual misunderstanding. She said the scuffle broke out while she and her husband were trying to prevent the accused from attempting suicide, and that the family had amicably resolved the matter to restore cordial relations and did not wish to pursue the case.

Taking note of the completion of the investigation, the amicable settlement, and the young age of the accused, the court ordered his release on a personal bond of ₹25,000 with one surety of like amount.
