The Mapusa NDPS Court has dismissed the bail application of 59‑year‑old Greek national Sokratis Michailidis, who was arrested by Anjuna Police in March this year in connection with a major narcotics seizure in North Goa.

Michailidis, a native of Athens residing in Assagao, Bardez, was arrested by Anjuna Police for alleged possession of 2,271 grams of charas and 10.77 grams of ecstasy.

According to the defence, on March 17, 2026, ununiformed police officers raided Michailidis’s Assagao residence, seized CCTV hard drives, passports and mobile phones, and illegally detained him together with his wife and son at the Siolim police outpost.

The defence further alleged that the police demanded Rs. 2 lakh, threatened to implicate his family, coerced him into signing blank documents, and staged a recovery on an isolated road without complying with the mandatory search procedures prescribed under the NDPS Act.

The Public Prosecutor representing the State opposed the bail application, citing ongoing investigations into the applicant’s business dealings.

The court ultimately rejected the plea, finding non‑compliance with the High Court’s mandatory guidelines concerning foreign nationals seeking bail.
