The High Court has issued notices to the State of Goa and other respondents, including the Crime Branch, on a criminal writ petition filed by former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, pleading to arraign three Chargesheet Witnesses as accused in the 2015 Louis Berger bribery case. By an order dated 6 January 2026, the trial court dismissed Kamat’s plea to arraign three chargesheet witnesses—Shiv Ramprasad Malladi, Sanjay Jindal and Prasanna Shah—as accused. Kamat has challenged that order before the High Court. As part of its interim directions, the High Court granted Kamat liberty to approach the trial court seeking deferment of the framing of charges against him. The High Court observed that, if such an application is moved, the trial court may defer proceedings beyond 1 October 2026—the returnable date fixed by the High Court. Meanwhile, the next hearing before the trial court is scheduled for 24 September.
