Two girl students from a higher secondary school in Colvale were admitted to the Mapusa District Hospital after they allegedly consumed five iron tablets each instead of taking the prescribed one tablet per week.

According to preliminary information, the iron tablets had been distributed at the school under a health programme. The students reportedly misunderstood the dosage instructions and consumed five tablets each.

Soon after taking the tablets, both girls started vomiting and complained of uneasiness. School authorities promptly shifted them to the Mapusa District Hospital for medical treatment.

Hospital sources said both students are in stable condition and are under observation. No serious complications have been reported so far.
