An enforcement drive was conducted at various establishments in IDC Verna on Thursday, 9th July 2026, by the South Goa FDA team. FDA official Sanjyot Kudalkar and Food Safety Officers Priya Desai, Priya Komarpant, and Amardeep Priolkar conducted the raid at nine premises, which consisted of restaurants, retail shops, hawkers, and canteens of private companies.

It was found that some of the premises were operating without licenses. Five such cases were booked, notices were issued to the unlicensed vendors, and a penalty of Rs 5,000 was imposed on the license holders found at fault. Inspection reports were issued to four premises where food articles were not stored properly, pests were sighted, food handlers were found without proper attire, and sanitary cards were not maintained. Along with this, water stagnation was found on the floor, synthetic food colors were used for cooking, waste disposal facilities were poorly maintained, and newspapers were used for wrapping food articles.

Food Business Operators were directed to comply with the noted deficiencies and report their compliance within eight days. Moreover, three Food Business Operators were fined for COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) violations.
