The expansion of India’s steel industry is creating growing demand for low-grade iron ore, said Manish Sarda, Chairman of the Indian Ferro Alloy Producers Association (IFAPA).

Sarda said the government is also focusing on exploring the country’s mineral resources as part of its broader vision of achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He highlighted the importance of the mining sector to India’s industrial and infrastructure development, noting that the growth of the steel industry is opening up opportunities for greater utilisation of low-grade iron ore resources.

The Indian Ferro Alloy Producers Association is also engaging with the government and other stakeholders to discuss challenges faced by the mining industry and explore measures to address them.
