In a unique example of passion for farming, a restaurant owner in Anjuna has turned his backyard into a thriving garden featuring grapes, passion fruit and several other varieties of fruits and flowers.

The restaurant owner says that with dedication and hard work, almost any crop can be grown in Goa. Over the years, he has planted around 100 different varieties of fruit and flowering plants in his backyard.

Among the most notable are grapevines, which were planted nearly six years ago and have now started bearing fruit. The successful grape cultivation has emerged as an encouraging example for those looking to experiment with crops beyond Goa’s traditional produce.

Known for its coconut, banana, cashew, jackfruit and other local produce, Goa is now also witnessing growing interest in cultivating relatively unconventional fruits such as grapes, apples and passion fruit.
