While Christmas is still weeks away, the festive spirit has already begun taking shape near the Zuari Bridge, where Agassaim’s Anthony Rodrigues is busy preparing thousands of colourful Christmas stars.

For several years, Rodrigues, along with his family, has been following the same cherished tradition—making Christmas stars by hand and decorating his home and surroundings with them.
What makes his stars special is the traditional method behind their creation. Using simple materials such as bamboo and paper, Rodrigues carefully crafts the stars by hand, preserving a style of Christmas decoration that has been passed down through generations.
For Anthony and his family, the annual preparation is more than just putting up decorations. It has become a family tradition and a way of welcoming the Christmas season while keeping a traditional craft alive.
As the stars begin to brighten the area near the Zuari Bridge, Anthony’s work offers a glimpse into the festive preparations that make Christmas in Goa unique.
