Goa Records Biggest Rainfall Deficit In 47 Years

Goa records a 31.7% rainfall deficit, receiving 2,055.4 mm against the normal 3,007.8 mm.

Goa has recorded a 31.7% rainfall deficit during the 2026 Southwest Monsoon, receiving 2,055.4 mm of rainfall against the normal 3,007.8 mm.This is the largest negative departure recorded in the last 47 years.

North Goa recorded a higher deficit of 36.8%, while South Goa registered a 26.9% shortfall. September recorded the largest monthly rainfall deficit during the season.

Valpoi recorded the highest seasonal rainfall in the state at 2,836.7 mm, while Panaji received the lowest at 1,385 mm.

The rainfall deficit has marked a significantly below-normal monsoon season for Goa, with the state receiving nearly one-third less rainfall than its seasonal average.
