Students of Goa College of Engineering (GEC), Farmagudi, continued their boycott of Saturday classes on October 10, protesting against the college management’s decision to conduct classes on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
The protest has been ongoing despite a memorandum signed by around 1,100 students and submitted to the college management in August, seeking the withdrawal of the decision.
With the management yet to reverse its stand, the majority of students have continued to stay away from Saturday classes as a mark of protest.
In an interesting development, a college representative conducted a poll among students of a class on Friday, October 9, asking whether they would attend classes the following day. Students were given time until 10 pm to respond.
However, all students in the class responded within just seven minutes, with the majority indicating that they would not attend classes on Saturday.
The continued boycott highlights the students’ opposition to the revised Saturday class schedule, with the issue remaining unresolved between the students and the college management.
